FRIEZE CARPET CAN FINALLY BE VACUUMED!, July 10, 2011

My uprights simply would not work on frieze carpeting and I read about this Oreck Conquest Pro and how good it was supposed to be on frieze carpets and decided to give it a try. After one hours use this is my opinion.

It arrived well packaged with all pieces. The instructions on assemby and use were easy to understand. The floor brush worked great on my hardwoods and tile. The brush worked great on my upholstered furniture and my cat tree. The power head worked wonderful on my long shag rugs and on all my frieze carpeting. I like the lighted head which helps vacuuming in closets and under beds. It has a powerful suction and quickly sucked up the cat litter from my tile floors. I was pleased with the extension wand and found it easily adjusted to where I was vacuuming. Changing from one head to another was accomplished very easily. OK So far, May 14, 2011

I bought this vacuum a couple of weeks ago. It seems very well put togther and feels very solid. I had to buy some extra attachments because I didn’t like the shape of the brush attachment that stows on board. The powerhead seems OK and the included hard floor brush has horse hair bristles and attached wheels which is a nice touch. At first, the cord rewind was not always working well but it suddenly seems to have corrected itself and now it is working perfectly. I have 2 weeks left on the 30 day trial, but as of now I think I am keeping it. The suction is very strong, by the way.

Not For Plush Carpet, July 7, 2011

We just received our Oreck Quest Pro Canister vacuum today and were so excited. It is easily assembled, although it is very heavy and requires good strength to carry it upstairs. The cord seems short and pulled out of the electrical socket twice during my initial use. The most disturbing aspect is that the vacuum won’t budge without holding your breath, tightening your stomach (good old valsalva), and forcing the vacuum head through our new carpet. We have new, Mohawk frieze carpet which is like the old shag carpet but thinner threads. Anyway, we just gave up. I could barely push it through the carpet, and my wife tried for less than 30 seconds. I’m sure that this vacuum is great if you have a flat carpet or hardwood/tile flooring. But if you’re looking for something to vacuum thick carpets, this is not the vacuum for you. We enjoyed our Oreck XL for years and thought this might work. But neither can handle the thicker piles in newer carpet. We’re having to return this…

I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all “green built certified” which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it’s a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. It’s an awesome machine, June 9, 2009

My bamboo and travertine floors get a lot of foot and paw traffic. I bought the machine with a little skepticism since the floor isn’t clean unless I hand scrub it (the idea of swiffer grosses me out). I was amazed at the job this machine does and oh so happy with the labor and time-saving advantage in using it. I tested it on the walls, and viola! Nice job. I didn’t need cleaners, which is a big plus as I am trying hard to do my part in environmental mending.

Look forward to trying it on tiny tiny glass tiles surrounding my master suite bath. The only downfall is the cord length, but an extension cord remedied that.

I rec’d my Haan Steam Cleaner on Friday and I cleaned everything in sight! I cleaned my tile shower, my hardwood floors, my tile floors, my area rugs, my windows, my bed (yep), my countertops, inside my refrigerator…my pets and husband kept away in fear I would steam clean them! I used every attachment, every pad and I loved everything about it. My house sparkles and smells heavenly without any harsh cleaners. I cannot recommend more highly.

Greatest Minivac Ever!!!, January 6, 2012

I wanted this small vacuum for on-the-spot cleanups, dusting ceiling fans, and dusting my entryway steps. WOW!!! It certainly exceeds all my expectations. Extremely powerful for its size and very easy to maneuver. I love it and will be using it a lot more than I expected!!!

This unit is small but has some powerful suction but not as powerful if you use its full length of the extension attachments. The unit does get hot after a about 10 minutes or so, but does not stop running. The whole over-the-shoulder feature is invaluable. It’s not good for whole-house vacuuming though, however, I used it for my office and was amazed. Vacuumed out my computer, keyboard, monitor, copier/fax, dusty shelves, cob webs, carpet corners, blinds and so on. The small brush attachment kept fold in and was a bit annoying but it definitely cleaned well. The extension attachments were interchangeable with my home vacuum. Bonus….. I am absolutely glad I bought it.

Actually, China included a assessory could not need LESS (2 of same) in place of needed one. Talked with their “customer service” and was ready to pull my hair out. Returned unit.

Dyson DC07 Animal vacuum owner, July 26, 2011

I own a Dyson DC07 Cyclone Animal Upright Vacuum, Purple, and share my house with two Alaskan Huskies. So while the Dyson on its own is great, it doesn’t do much for the imbedded dog hair on my stars. I saw the Bissell Pet Inspired Pet Hair Vacuum Tools, 67V8 at our local BX decided to give it a go as it says the attachments are compatible with Dyson brand vacuums. Sadly the only way the attachments work with the Dyson DC07, even with the adapters, (this is only Dyson I have ever owned, so I cannot compare it to any other model) is to attach it to the handle/wand section. Bissell, Thank you!, April 25, 2011

My dog is a Lab/Wolf mix; she sheds a lot! Vacuum cleaners can’t keep up. I started using a shop vac AND a Pet Hair Erasor – too much work.

The Universal Pet Hair Vacuum Tools (by Bissell) is exactly what I’ve needed. The two attachments even fit my shop vac and are perfect for cleaning my car.

Frustration Free Vacuuming, October 22, 2011

I know this will be long, so I will present this in pro’s & con’s, a summary of my background a little, a summery of my experiences, and then a more detailed follow up on some of those pro’s/con’s.

All in all, my wife and I are really happy with it. It’s only been the first week, so time will tell.

Some of the pro’s and con’s might appear to be double listed, as some are a plus and a minus.

PRO’S

* Sucks – pulls dirt out of somewhere where my last vacuum couldn’t find it.

* a bit quieter than any vacuum I have had…lower pitch as well. My wife and i can actually talk a reasonable levels when the vacuum is running.

* Vacuum head self adjust to floor, so no bending down to turn the @!#$ switch on most vacuums.

* Attachments lock into place, so they don’t come off when using them

* Dirt canister removes as one unit (no dirt on the floor), dumps out of bottom over a trash can

Great, but has design flaws., October 3, 2011

The DC41 is a great product and is probably the best vacuum out there. But that hasn’t stopped me from noticing a few defects. There are really 2 major ones that nearly made me return this product.

The first issue is that they got rid of the foot lever that typical vacuums have to engage the beater bar. Instead you just force it down and start vacuuming and when you are done you just put it back up and it latches and stays upright. This is pretty neat but when you are putting it upright there are 2 distinct things that happen, it engages the wand hose and then it engages the lock that holds it up. The switch for the hose is much louder and happens first so this leads you to believe the vacuum is upright and to let go when it is not latched properly causing it to fall over if you are not quick enough to catch it. This makes me respond by putting it upright much more forcefully then I want to do to something I’ve bought for nearly 0.

Mostly awesome, November 7, 2011

I had a Hoover WindTunnel for about 11 years before replacing it with the DC41. I’ve had the Dyson now for a few days and here are my thoughts:

PROS

- As many others experienced, I was completely grossed out by the amount of dirt that the Dyson picked up the first time I vacuumed. I don’t know if this is a result of a superior suction or beater bar (which does seem stronger/faster than my old Hoover… the carpet is actually *warm* as I step into where the Dyson just vacuumed) but it’s definitely satisfying.

- Lighter than the WindTunnel. I know others have complained about the weight but it is way lighter and easier to carry than the big self-propelled Hoover.

- Quieter than the WindTunnel. If I need to say something to my husband, I can actually do it without pausing and shutting off the Dyson.

CONS

- The cord, as many have complained about, is not self-retracting. Instead, it winds around the back of the vacuum. I’d…

What can be said about vacuum bags, September 30, 2011

I bought these replacement vacuum bags for my Panasonic canister vacuum. They are the same type of bag that came with the unit, so they work fine. I needed bags for weeks, but every time I was at a store, I had forgotten the name of the vacuum and the type of bag required. Ordering online from Amazon was much easier for me – no trips to the store, and the vacuum was right next to me for reference.

OK Choice, But Not for Heavy Duty Work, July 30, 2009

I’m used to a more heavy duty type blower ( over 160 mph ) , either electric or gas powered with a much more powerful force for blowing. I use them both a lot

I got this one for light duty work. Just clearing away leaves / dust / etc from a sidewalk, driveway, or patio. It does OK at this, but NOT for any kind of heavy duty use, it does not have the power

You only have about 10 mins of battery life and power. it’s a single speed blower ( the bigger blowers may have 2 speeds ), the Earthwise website says it blows 140 mph but I doubt it

If there is a light breeze blowing against you forget it. The breeze has more influence than the battery blower does. May the breeze be at your back instead.

Pros: Lightweight and easy to use, good for a 5 minute job sweeping away light debris from a walk way / driveway / patio, Quiet compared to the more powerful blowers

Cons: 18V BATTERY is a major weak spot, only 10 mins power. They…

Works really well for my yard needs., May 14, 2009

So far I have no complaints about the cordless blower. It has the power I need and is really light to use.

The battery is easy to charge with the included charger and gives me enough time to complete blowing off my driveway, patio and sidewalk.

All in all, the Earthwise CB20018 18 Volt Cordless Blower is a good product and I would recommend it to anyone that has an average sized lawn.

Great small-area leaf blower!, September 20, 2009

I’ve had this leaf blower for about a month, and I use it to clear off my 12′ x 14′ deck and same-sized driveway. It’s lightweight, super easy to use, and exactly what I was looking for! Not only do I use it for leaf-blowing, but it works for clearing debris from my plantings as well as blowing small amounts of standing water after rainstorms (mosquito control). The battery lasts for approximately 3 cleanups–not quite as long as I would expect, but this is only a minor inconvenience because it could be charged after every use (the battery doesn’t have a ‘memory’).
